Safety Guidelines

Before visiting a place

• Confirm land ownership, access rules, permits, fire restrictions, closures, weather, road conditions, and vehicle clearance using authoritative local sources.
• Tell someone where you are going and when you expect to check in.
• Do not rely on a single user review for safety-critical decisions.

When meeting another user

• Meet in a populated public place during daylight when possible.
• Keep your own transportation and do not share more personal information than necessary.
• Tell a trusted person who you are meeting, where, and when.
• Leave immediately if something feels wrong. You do not owe anyone politeness at the expense of safety.

Location privacy

• Avoid publicly posting an exact overnight location while you are still there.
• Use approximate or delayed location sharing when exact location is unnecessary.
• Never expose another person's location without clear permission.

Marketplace rules and safety

RME Market is a person-to-person classifieds feature. RME is not the seller, payment processor, escrow agent, shipper, insurer, or guarantor. Payments and exchanges happen between members unless a future RME checkout explicitly says otherwise.

Prohibited listings include illegal goods or services, weapons where unlawful, controlled substances, stolen goods, counterfeit items, recalled or unsafe products, adult services, personal data, animals where prohibited, financial products, and anything that facilitates fraud or harm.

• Inspect items and vehicles before paying, verify ownership, and use a traceable payment method and written documentation for significant transactions.
• Be cautious with deposits, gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency, overpayment stories, or pressure to act immediately. Never send verification codes, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or deposits to an unverified stranger.
• Do not send identity documents or payment credentials through chat.
• Report suspected fraud in the app and preserve messages and receipts.

Protect places

Stay on legal routes, respect closures and private property, pack out waste, minimize noise, use established sites when required, and avoid exposing sensitive wildlife, cultural, or fragile locations.

Report concerns

Use in-app reporting when available, block unwanted contact, and preserve only lawful, non-sensitive context. Do not download, copy, forward, email, or send a direct link to suspected child sexual abuse material.
